The event features young performers from Nam Hwa’s children-class, offering a vibrant celebration of traditional Chinese opera heritage through fresh and youthful energy. “The Legacy in Me” brings together rising children-class talents to perform select pieces spanning both civil (文戏) and martial (武戏) repertoires, showcasing the four major role types — Sheng (生), Dan (旦), Jing (净), and Chou (丑). Audiences will witness a blend of literary artistry and dynamic stagecraft, offering a vivid snapshot of Teochew opera’s enduring legacy in a format accessible to younger generations. The production also serves as a platform for young performers to gain stage experience, develop discipline, teamwork, and confidence, while deepening their understanding of traditional performing arts.
